About Botox

What is Botox

BOTOX® Cosmetic is an FDA-approved treatment used for the temporary removal of wrinkles between the eyes and on the forehead. Other uses include smoothing out crow’s feet and overactive neck muscles. BOTOX® Cosmetic requires no anesthetic and no downtime and can be administered in our plastic surgery office in mere minutes. Lasting up to four months, the results are dramatic and predictable.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox injections involve the injection of botulinum toxin type A into the muscles of the face causing them to relax and inhibiting the contraction of these muscles. BOTOX® Cosmetic works by preventing the formation of wrinkles in areas that develop wrinkles secondary to muscle contractions.

Candidates

Botox is approved for patients 18 years of age or older and is ideal for patients wanting to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles caused by muscle contractions. Botox is ideal for a wide range of ages and can be used by itself or as an additive treatment to other procedures.

Why Choose Dr. Pautler for Botox Injectables in Pittsburgh

Dr. Pautler is a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 24 years of experience performing Botox injections and operating on the face. Dr. Pautler’s experience provides her with extensive knowledge of facial anatomy allowing her to target the specific muscles and reduce the risk of complications.

How Much Does Botox Cost?

The cost of a botox treatment varies from patient to patient and depends on the needs of each individual. The cost of your treatment will be determined by the amount of Botox necessary to achieve your desired results.

Factors Influencing Botox Pricing

Experience and Expertise of the Surgeon

Botox requires the toxin to be injected accurately and using a precise amount to produce exceptional results without unwanted complications. Experienced surgeons are in high demand which can increase the cost of Botox injections.

Location

Certain areas of the country, such as the East and West Coasts and large cities, have higher costs of living and running a business. Therefore, these areas will often have higher rates of Botox injections.

What to Expect During a Consultation for Botox

At the initial consultation, Dr. Pautler and her physician assistant, Julia, will examine your unique facial anatomy and identify the points of injection and how many units are needed to produce the desired results. Julia, who has been trained by Dr. Pautler, will then gently perform the injections.

Risks and Considerations

Similar to any procedure, Botox is not without its risks. These risks include:

  • Altered facial appearance. Injecting too much Botox or injecting the wrong area can produce the dropping of an eyelid or abnormalities in your smile.
  • Injection site reactions. Redness, swelling, and bruising can be experienced.
  • Infections. Improper sterilization techniques can increase the risk of infections.

Featured Testimonials

Here’s what our clients have to say

"Dr. Pautler is an amazing person. I wanted to have a breast augmentation but was nervous. She took the time to fully explain everything to me. I never felt as if a question was stupid or not worth her time. I quickly realized that I had found the right doctor. My surgery went very well, thanks to the expert hands of Dr. Pautler. The first few days of my recovery were as expected. Then I noticed that my incisions were becoming increasingly itchy. On a Saturday morning, I called the number Dr. Pautler had given me. A little while later, she met me in her office. I was having a rare allergic reaction to the adhesive. She was able to treat me and told me to come into the office on Monday. I was very grateful for this weekend visit with her. Much to my surprise, I got a phone call the next day, from Dr. Pautler. It was a Sunday! She was calling to see how I was feeling. I would definitely recommend her to anyone. I wish more doctors were as caring and as compassionate as her.”
